Doster was selected by St. Joe Towns & Resorts to be
their contractor on Gatehouse at WaterSound Beach project. The
Gatehouse is an impressive Contemporary/Nantucket style design, which
serves as the primary entrance to an approximately 40 acre development
of condominiums and resort amenities by St. Joe.
The main Gatehouse is a 3-story structure with an
arched tunnel passage separated by a security office in the middle to
control access into the development. The gatehouse has 11 condominiums
occupying the 2nd and 3rd stories and retail space, a market with a full
service kitchen, post office, conference and office space occupy the 1st
floor. The exterior of the building is clad with hardi-plank siding and
plaster and a tremendous amount of architectural wood trim work
offsetting the windows, doors, roof and archways.
A special feature is the Bike Barn and rental office
which are two separate structures for bike rentals. The exterior is of
similar design as the Gatehouse is accessed by a wood deck and trellis
connecting the two structures. The landscaping surrounding the
Gatehouse and Bike Barn is second to none in the SeaGrove community. The
site is surrounded by variety of wood picket fences incorporated with
sitting benches and many trees and shrubs. Special features include
concrete pavers in the roadways, sidewalks and community areas. The most
notable feature being the unique Analemmatic Sundial and Gnomon created
within the concrete and granite pavers. |
