The Ferguson Center serves as the student union
building for the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The Doster team
completed a significant expansion and renovation of this important
facility. The 50,000 square foot addition contains a bookstore, a game
room, campus offices, student recreation areas and specialty vendor
areas for Starbucks Coffee and Freshens Yogurt. The renovation work
involved a refurbishment of the existing building's finishes including
new paint, wall coverings, ceilings and floors. Minor mechanical and
electrical upgrades were also completed. All work was coordinated with
university personnel to minimize the impact of construction on the
students, faculty, and staff. The new Student Services building on the campus of the
University of Alabama consolidates several campus offices into one
convenient location. The building is home to the Registrar's office, the
Bursar's office, and several others. The building was designed to meet
the strict architectural requirements of the University's core area. In
addition to the building itself, the Doster team constructed a
pedestrian bridge spanning Campus Drive in order to connect the Student
Services building to a nearby parking deck.
