Doster Construction Company was
selected to serve as Construction Manager for the new Morgan County Jail
in Decatur, Alabama. The 102,000 square foot facility contains an
administration building, sheriff offices, two outdoor exercise areas,
and four pods (two male and two female).
The administration building houses a complete medical area including an
x-ray room, exam rooms, dental room, and a full-service laundry facility
with four industrial-sized washers and dryers. It also has a large
kitchen with dry food storage, food preparation equipment, and a walk-in
freezer. A unique feature of this administration building is the video
visitation rooms where guests can interact with inmates remotely by
video.
The second floor contains offices for the sheriff, homeland security,
captain, chief, clerk, narcotics and evidence departments. State-of-the
art amenities are located throughout the facility.
Doster worked with the architect through the planning and
preconstruction phases to keep the project within the budget allocated
by the Morgan County Commission.
