Tenet Healthcare Corporation negotiated with Doster to provide
construction services for this project. The Employee Parking Deck on
the Brookwood Medical Center campus is a cast-in-place concrete
structure which accommodates 1,744 cars with approximately 670,000
square feet of deck area. The lower half of the ground floor also houses
35,000 square feet of conditioned warehouse for medical supplies. The
dual scissor deck is clad with precast panels, glass enclosed staircases
and exterior insulated finish system. Included in the parking deck is an
extensive security system including 150 surveillance cameras and panic
alert stations. Doster's project team met the difficult challenge of
placing 23,000 cubic yards of concrete material while causing minimal
impact to the medical campus operations. The project's site was
difficult due to the confined areas and limited access for material
storage. Other challenges included an active heli-stop located on-site,
power transmission lines, as well as the existing parking deck that
bordered the site. In addition, the design included an elevated skywalk
measuring 210 feet in length that connects the parking deck to a new
atrium at the existing Professional Office Building. |
