Doster Construction Company was selected to be the General Contractor for Winter Haven Hospital's three-story, 117,000 square foot, 283-space concrete parking garage. The structure is a mixture of cast-in place concrete and pre-stressed beams/joists. It contains two stair towers, an elevator and has an architectural precast panel facade.
With Winter Haven Hospital continuing all operations during the garage's build out, the project team faced and conquered many additional challenges. Because concrete was poured at night, Doster had to address the issue of potential lights and noise disturbing patients. This was addressed in pre-planning, with everything handled efficiently and with minimal disturbance.
Because the concrete subcontractor was ahead of schedule by two weeks, Doster was able to negotiate changing the slab on grade, some finishes and eliminate some traffic coatings which allowed the owner to save $200,000.
This was the first project of a $35.5 million expansion to Winter Haven's existing campus for which Doster Construction Company has been selected as the Construction Manager.
