Education - Additions and Renovations
Etowah High School
Woodstock, GA
Doster Construction Company was recently selected by the Cherokee County Board of Education to serve as Construction Manager for a $12 million physical education facility and classroom addition for Etowah High School.
The 72,000 square foot, two-story gymnasium will be equipped with locker rooms, concessions, a ticket booth and a running track. The building will include eight additional classrooms, one being a horticulture lab. A self-sustained greenhouse and horticulture pavilion will be constructed adjacent to the new facility.
The physical education facility is a steel structure with CMU walls. The roof is constructed with a combination of modified bitumen and standing seam metal. The exterior of the building features brick, ground face and split face CMU’s, with aluminum composite panels serving as accents.
The overall construction of the project was completed in three phases: the first phase included the actual construction of the building, the second phase included the relocation of the mobile classroom trailers and renovation of the existing cafeteria and the third phase included modifications to the parking lot which allows for additional parking spaces. Construction completed in the Spring of 2009.
