Hoover High School Freshman Center
Hoover, Alabama
Doster Construction Company was selected as General Contractor by Hoover City Schools. Located on a 50-acre site, the 180,000 square foot Hoover High School Freshman Center features 75 high-tech classrooms plus a media center, choral and band halls, computer labs and physics and chemistry labs. The athletic facilities are highlighted by two gymnasiums, as well as football, baseball and soccer fields. Also included are six regulation tennis courts.
The exterior façade of brick and precast accents the classic lines of the three-story structural frame. A combination of standing seam metal and modified bituminous roofing seal this facility, which is conditioned by a four-pipe mechanical system. The vinyl composition floors and painted concrete block walls provide a pleasing environment for the 850 students.
Site improvements included a half-mile boulevard to the campus, extension of sewer, water, power, telephone and natural gas service to the site, bus canopies, bus parking, all playing fields and parking for 425 vehicles. This facility was fully commissioned and ready for use in July 2007 prior to the opening of classes in August.
