Minimal Disruption, Maximum Safety
Doster Education has extensive experience working in fully functional/occupied facilities. We pride ourselves in our abilities to complete projects with minimal interruption. In addition, we take extreme measures to ensure the safety of the occupants. We understand the need for the school to continue to operate efficiently, and coordinate closely with the school staff and the architect to ensure minimal disruption to daily operations of the schools we construct. Key concerns that our experience overcomes: Indoor air quality management, cleanliness of work areas and traffic paths, utility service interruptions, critical system shut downs, site traffic control and parking.
Value Analysis
Doster's value analysis process is based on a foundation of team building and trust. Our typical approach involves upper management, the Project Director, Project Manager, Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, Pre-Construction Manager, Estimators and occasionally includes major subcontractors. Our “Brainstorming Sessions” encourage each team member to propose every conceivable idea for cost savings possible. These sessions often produce additional cost savings ideas due to the open, honest and interactive discussions that take place within these meetings.
Fast-Tracked Phased Projects
To anticipate all activities that can potentially impact project schedules, schedules are broken down by Phased Areas and are monitored accordingly. We will identify long lead equipment and material that must be procured up front to ensure that all work items are available as needed. The required submittal dates as well as the appropriate fabrication time, delivery and installation dates for all material and equipment will be incorporated into the project schedule. We will request submittal “review parties” that will bring all necessary team members together to expedite equipment/material approvals. Owner provided material, equipment and services will also be included in the construction schedule. Project schedule maintenance will be performed by our on-site personnel. With our project team directly in charge of the schedule we can also review logic changes immediately to evaluate impacts and address project delays if necessary.
Sustainable Practices
Doster Education most recently completed Hewitt-Trussville High School, one of Alabama's first schools that utilized green building practices. In addition to the school running more cost efficiently, through our environmental approach we were able to save the owner $5 million in cost savings. Throughout our education team, we have many LEED accredited project personnel and preconstruction personnel with LEED certified project experience.
