HealthSouth Waco Surgery Center
Waco, Texas
Doster Construction provided construction services for this 11,000 square foot, single-story ambulatory surgery center. Consisting of three operating rooms and one procedure room, the facility was constructed in a leased space within an existing multi-tenant, single-story office building in Waco, Texas. The project was built in 5 months and all subcontractors utilized were local.
Project scope included the demolition of an existing physical therapy suite in a medical plaza shell building, a new surgery center, and installation of owner-furnished equipment. The new surgery center was a basic build-out with minimal exterior skin work on the existing building. The majority of the exterior work was confined to the roof where six new HVAC units were installed.
In addition, numerous advanced technology systems were installed, such as medical gas and air, runoff water system, sterilization equipment, surgical lights & equipment booms. This required additional structural steel support added to the existing building structure, as well as extensive coordination of power, audio/video, medical gas and air supplies. Owner-furnished equipment was installed by contractors under contract with the owner directly.
For the interior, drywall partitions and ceilings, acoustical ceilings, paint, vinyl wall covering, carpet, vinyl composition tile, sheet vinyl and rubber base finishes were used.
