Doster Construction was the general contractor on the new 54,000 square foot stand-alone outpatient surgery, diagnostic, and treatment facility for Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. The facility houses therapy space with a pool, physical therapy, a catheterization lab, and two cardiovascular operating rooms. It is connected via a corridor to the main hospital. The structure is a structural steel frame with metal studs and face brick veneer with modified flat roof.
Serving a seven-county area of Mississippi and drawing from two parishes in neighboring eastern Louisiana, SRMC's extended service area is a largely rural population of 170,000 people. This integrated health system provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art healthcare to a population that typically would have to travel 60 to 100 miles to Jackson, New Orleans or Baton Rouge for such levels of service.
