Winter Have Hospital Swann 5 Renovations

The Winter Haven Hospital Swann 5 Renovation project consisted of constructing a new $3 million, 32-bed Step-Down Cardiac Unit primarily used for open heart surgery patients after leaving the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. This unit has become a major component of Winter Haven Hospital’s state-of-the-art Bostick Heart Center, which provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to the Winter Haven community.
The interior used certain finishes to create a comforting atmosphere such as wood grains, soothing tones and smooth lines. Additional design elements were used to assist the healing process such as breaks in the floor pattern at defined intervals.
A fast-track schedule was created to meet the hospital’s needs for this new unit. Even with challenges such as infection control, limited overhead space for electrical and the sensitivity of not disrupting hospital services, Doster completed the project on schedule through careful, planned coordination, opening in November of 2008. In addition, Doster was able to return nearly $90,000 savings to the owner at project closeout.
