Oris Automotive Parts Facility

ORIS Automotive Parts AL, Ltd selected Doster as general contractor for their first manufacturing plant in the United States. The 125,000 square foot, tilt-up concrete panel manufacturing facility, with structural steel framework, is located within Paden Industrial Park in Bessemer, Alabama. The project is a 1st tier stamping facility, which will produce tubular products for automotive companies such as Mercedes Benz.
The buildings bold colors and extensive landscaping give the facility a balance that resembles ORIS plants throughout their native country of Germany. Designed to include manufacturing, office and distribution functions, capabilities were additionally put in place to allow for future expansion. The building stamping area includes (1) 800 ton, (1) 600 ton, (1) 400 ton and (1) 225 ton presses. The press pit is also designed to allow for installation of (1) additional 400 ton press.
With no site utilities available throughout construction, this project was built using only generator power and water from water trucks. Due to frequent rain, close coordination was required between our grading contractor, site developer and Doster to ensure subcontractor and material deliveries could reach the site despite treacherous road conditions.
Despite nearly two months of rain, the project was turned over to Oris on time and under budget.
This project was the recipient of an Associated Builders and Contractors Alabama Excellence in Construction Award.
