The Marriott Shoals Hotel and Spa renovation project consisted of three phases: a new six-story, 200-room four star destination hotel, renovation of the existing 200 foot Renaissance Tower and updates to the existing Shoals Conference Center.

The hotel construction included a seven story atrium lobby with a fountain, saunas, gift shop, administrative offices and a boardroom/conference room. The hotel now houses over 30,000 square feet of versatile meeting space, a full-service kitchen and restaurant, a bar/lounge area, a game room and a heated indoor and zero entry outdoor pool. Located on the river bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, the hotel gives guests a commanding view of the river from every room.

The Renaissance Tower renovation began with a total interior demolition. New features include tenant office space, a European-style full service spa, a hair salon, meeting areas, a theater and a full service restaurant and kitchen located at the top of the Tower. The restaurant is unique in that it features a 360 degree rotating dining area that overlooks the historic Tennessee River Wilson Dam and surrounding countryside.

The Conference Center upgrades included construction of a covered aluminum walkway from the hotel to the conference center, replacement of existing floors with Axminster carpet and updates of all office space, ballrooms and boardrooms.

The construction of the Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa is very special to the people of Florence, Alabama. This resort is the first destination hotel and spa built in the area and has brought numerous new jobs to the community. In addition, it incorporates the existing Shoals Conference Center and the Renaissance Tower into the overall function of the Hotel as a Conference Center and destination of choice for meetings and events. The $46 million project was completed in June 2005.
