New Hall - Spring Hill College

Doster Construction Company was hired by Spring Hill College to construct the new $9 million residence hall, appropriately named New Hall. The facility, which completed in 2005, contains over 68,000 square feet and is a three-story concrete structure with a partial basement. New Hall sits adjacent to the Marnie & John Burke Memorial Library, another project built by Doster.
Designed to encourage student engagement, New Hall includes a computer study room, computer access within each room, a recreation area, a seminar room, an elevator and a first-floor laundry area sufficient to serve its residents. The coed dorm, occupied by mostly upper-class students, has 223 beds and features traditional double and single rooms with shared bathrooms between. The roof structure is structural steel framing with steel joists. Additional parking and site improvements were also part of this project.
