Doster Construction Company will start the second phase of Ferrell Hospital’s $34 million expansion and renovation next month. Construction started in March of 2019 to expand the 25-bed hospital in Eldorado, Illinois. The first phase added 55,000 square feet of space to the existing hospital. A new emergency department was created, along with new diagnostic imaging, laboratory, phlebotomy, chemotherapy, surgical and ambulatory care unit spaces. Construction on the first phase will wrap up in the fall.

The second phase, which will begin in early September, includes a 15,000 square feet renovation and the addition of a one-story, outpatient clinic space. The project also consists of interior renovations of the existing building, landscape development, and paving and other site improvements.

“Ferrell Hospital, since our beginning in 1925, has been here to meet the health care needs of our community,” said Alisa Coleman, CEO. “This expansion and modernization will enhance our ability to provide quality emergency, surgical and hospital-based care to patients here in southeastern Illinois, keeping them close to home.”

“Our project is about strategically planning for health care services that meet the needs of patients in the future,” said Coleman. “Our goal is to enhance our facility to help patients receive the care they need, right here, in our community.”
