Doster Delivers 20,000 Units in 20+ Years: A Multifamily Division Timeline

Doster was founded in Birmingham, Alabama in 1969 by Thomas E. Doster, III working first in the healthcare and commercial markets. In 2000, Doster began their multifamily division with work on several multi-story wood-framed developments in Alabama. One of their first major multifamily projects was the 228-unit Town Village Senior Living development in Birmingham. Work in the multifamily market sector quickly grew as they began working with some of the country’s top developers, and Doster would soon be known as one of the leading multifamily builders in the country.

Doster was named as a Top Multifamily Builder by the National Multifamily Housing Council and to date they have successfully delivered more than 20,000 multifamily units to clients across the southeastern United States. 2000

Town Village Senior Living

One of Doster’s first major multifamily projects was the 228-unit Town Village Senior Living development in Birmingham, Alabama.

2002

Somerby at Jones Farm

Doster and Daniel Corporation undergo construction on a new independent living facility in Huntsville, Alabama.

2005

Metropolitan Gardens Park Place

Doster formed a joint venture to serve as the general contractor for Metropolitan Gardens Park Place, a Hope VI development, a HUD 221 (d)(4) program.

2006

Lullwater at Saluda Point

Doster breaks ground on the 280-unit apartment development in Lexington, South Carolina.

2007

Boardwalk Student Apartments

Doster breaks ground on two student apartment developments in Tuscaloosa and Hattiesburg.

2008

Birchall at Ross Bridge

Works begins on a 240-unit upscale apartment community in Hoover, Alabama.

2009

Velocity in the Gulch

Doster completes construction on Velocity in the Gulch in Nashville, Tennessee. The first infill project of its kind, the project consisted of 264 high-end residential units, 20,900 square feet of retail and an “embedded” parking deck to support both uses. Nashville’s Gulch has been certified as the first green neighborhood in the South and one of only about a dozen in the country.

2010

1700 Midtown

Construction completes on 1700 Midtown, a modern, urban apartment development in Nashville, Tennessee.

2011

The Village at Midtown

Doster delivers 324-unit apartment development to the Midtown District of Mobile, Alabama.

2012

220 Riverside

Doster breaks ground on $30 million Class A+ multi-family mixed-use development in Florida.

Solara

Works beings on 10-acre multifamily development with Bristol Development Group.

2013

Ashby at Ross Bridge

Construction completes on second multifamily development built by Doster Construction in the upscale Ross Bridge community.

2014

Veranda at Norton Commons

Doster is in progress on a 236-unit Apartment Development in Louisville, Kentucky.

2015

The Crossings at Mileston

Doster breaks ground on the 250-unit development in Pensacola, Florida.

Tapestry at Brentwood Town Center

Doster completes construction on 393-unit mixed-use development in Brentwood, Tennessee.

The Clubhouse

Doster works with The John Buck Company a a new student apartment development in Louisville.

2016

Iron City Lofts

Doster completes the 68-unit urban infill with podium parking in Birmingham’s downtown Lakeview district.

Continental Development

Doster begins first Springs apartment development with Continental Development and will go on to complete ten additional developments throughout the country.
