Doster Construction Company has officially broken ground on a new freestanding emergency department for Laredo Medical Center in South Laredo, Texas. The 11,206-square-foot facility, located at 4019 Cuatro Vientos Road, will expand access to emergency care for the rapidly growing communities of south Laredo, Rio Bravo, El Cenizo, and Zapata.

The new $23 million Buena Vista ER will feature eight private exam rooms, including specialized trauma and OB/isolation rooms, three private triage bays, as well as on-site radiology and laboratory services. Emergency care will be provided by board-certified emergency physicians and skilled clinical staff. The project will also bring more than 19 new jobs to the area, supporting both clinical operations and patient care.

Laredo Medical Center CEO Jorge Leal spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony, noting that the new ER fulfills his long-standing vision to improve access to healthcare in South Laredo. City officials including Mayor Dr. Victor Trevino and District I Councilmember Gilbert Gonzalez joined the celebration, recognizing the positive impact the project will have on area residents.

Doster Construction Company is serving as the general contractor on the project. “We are honored to partner with Laredo Medical Center and Community Health Systems on this important facility,” said Joe Wall, Doster Operations Manager. “Doster is proud to bring our healthcare construction expertise to a project that will make such a meaningful difference in the community.” Construction is expected to be completed by late summer 2026.
