Doster Construction has completed the new 32,000-square-foot Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office, located on Leaf Lake Boulevard off Lakeshore Parkway in Birmingham. Designed by Poole & Company Architects in collaboration with MWL Architects, the facility was built to support the county’s needs for the next 30 years and includes space for future expansion.
The project features tilt-wall concrete panel construction paired with highly specialized, healthcare-grade interior environments tailored for the complex needs of the Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office.
Inside, the facility includes expanded examination and storage areas, a private drive-through port for discreet transfers, and an on-site CT scanner that enhances imaging and diagnostic capabilities. Additional spaces include an isolation room for infectious cases, a private family meeting area, and a conference room designed to support training and coordination with law enforcement and legal teams.
