Doster Construction Company broke ground on a 30-bed, 20,000 square foot vertical expansion and CEP renovation at Cullman Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, January 4, 2017. The project is scheduled to complete in early 2018.

Cullman Regional CEO James Clements opened the groundbreaking event by praising the board both past and present for the vision of a facility that could accommodate future growth vertically. Clements mentioned the need for the additional space as well as the additional 100 jobs that will be added at project completion.

“We’re excited to be growing to accommodate the needs of the community we serve and appreciate the Board’s hard work, particularly that of Building and Grounds Committee Chair Dennis Richard,” Clements said. “Dennis has personally invested his time and expertise into getting this project going.”

Next Richard gave an introduction of Architectural Firm, TRO Jung Brannan and Architect on the Project Hal Starkey as well as an introduction and overview of the construction team selection process.

“After a lengthy interview process with all of the potential candidates, we selected Doster for their previous experience in vertical hospital expansion projects, plus they are an established company headquartered in Alabama; they have a 90% satisfaction rating from previous clients; and they recently completed the Wallace State School of Nursing & Center for Science Building which we can all agree is a remarkable facility,” Richard said.

The program concluded with comments from State of Alabama Certificate of Need (CON) Board Chairman Neal Morrison who shared how proud he was to see his community moving forward.

“When I first received the call asking for support, I said, ‘Anything that’s for Cullman growing, I’m for it. This is my community and I’m always happy to support any projects that can help growth.”

The event hosted many additional local dignitaries including City of Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs, Cullman County Commissioner Garry Marchman.

The NoliWhite Group will serve as the owner’s representative for Cullman Regional Medical Center, Doster Construction Company is the general contractor and TRO Jung/Brannen is the architect of record.
